Re: Freddie Sears
i wouldn't have minded Sears stayed on and given more of a try. I wouldn't mind Elliott Lee given a try.

Fact is we don't play football to players under 6ft, who would be better off in a partnership.

We have winger, who cross, we have a target man, and we have Nolan.

That's the setup. Might as well save your energy arguing otherwise.

Dress it up, Marston? Do you go to games?

Apart from very early on, he NEVER played up front.

True, neither Zola, Grant nor Allardyce trusted him enough to play as a striker, not exactly the holy trinity of football management grant, however Sears hardly started banging them in when he went out on loan and played up front at a much lower level.

Re: Freddie Sears
Talking of dressing up goal records for wingers, Matt Jarvis has got 6 in 78 games for us. Most of those starts

Not bad, for £11.75mil

Glad to hear that Buzz, hope he gets a good move soon.

Thanks, its a tough business but we are confident he will have a good career in football.

Remember him coming on and scoring the winner on his debut, had high hopes. He needed to bulk up. Good to see him doing well.

I don't know eerie, I know before he joined colchester he'd scored 3 in 88. I don't know how many of those appearances were out wide or from the bench but whatever way you dress it up its a pretty shit record.

How's the boy enjoying it up there, Buzz?

Gone from saying that it was the last place on planet earth he would consider playing to absolutely loving it.

Been very tough for him given St Mirren's dire predicament. But he has forced his way into the 1st team, made his debut against Celtic which was live on BT Sport and played very, very well.

If you read the fans forums, they all like him in what is an otherwise awful side this year but think that he is too good for St Mirren to hold onto for next season and will be snapped up by other clubs at the end of his contract at the end of the season.

So all in all doing very well and enjoying being treated like a human being and respected for his ability for a change!

Re: Freddie Sears
Marston, was he given a run of games starting up front?

I probably agree with you about him being a regular starter for a top 10 team, but I've made my point about others strikers signed and used instead of him at a lower level.

This false Cole or Sears dichotomy is a weird one that's for sure.

Re: Freddie Sears
There are plenty of youngsters we've had come through you could point to and say they haven't been given a chance. Sears certainly isn't one of them.

I might be wrong but I can't remember too many at the time saying we should have kept him on.

Good luck to the lad but I don't think he'll ever be a regular starter for a top 10 prem side.

"Im saying he is a better player than cole kia. "

But he wasn't at the time and I doubt he would have been had he not left for Colchester.

Yes I would prefer Elliott Lee to Cole, like you I would prefer Cough to Cole now.

So McCallum & Maguire are good enough then? and should be rewarded with new deals?

FFS why is what I am saying so hard to understand - No and if you asked them both they would tell you that themselves.

Re: Freddie Sears
Im saying he is a better player than cole kia.

That was the original conversation. Instead of offering cole a new deal we could have had sears.

Much like this summer and elliott lee. I ll throw it back at you. Would you rather cole stays or cole goes and lee returns as 4th choice striker?

Exactly the point I've made about Sears all along, very easy to see he's a massive confidence player, I could see it and I'm not as involved as someone like yourself.

Again, broke all sorts of youth records as a goalscorer, and we tried to make him a winger. Not just the current management to blame for that, I would add.

Exactly my point.
